Oriel
Hicks opened the Phoenix studio in the Isles of Scilly off
the coast of Cornwall in 1991. She has designed and made stained
glass panels and windows to commission
all over the UK.
Her most recent commission has been to design and make the
four windows in the little church on Bryher, which were featured
in the BBC2 series "An Island Parish" recently.
The commission
work is mostly carried out in the winter months, as she makes
smaller scale giftware and art pieces for the seasonal tourist
market as well as teaching from the studio.
Oriel
is also a member of the Guild of Ten, a group of Cornwall-based
craftsmen with an outlet in Old Bridge St., Truro.
